Engaeyum Epothum

After hearing good reviews about the movie, I decided to see it over the weekend with my parents. I would have been more happy getting a good nights sleep instead of the night show we went to.

The story revolves around a bus accident, and the moral of the story is to not drive while talking over the phone or when you are drunk or when you are feeling sleepy or the likes. Period.

At the end of the movie I somehow felt like having seen a documentary film. The cast were good, there was appropriate humour and the movie was shot in a really nice manner. However, there was this feeling that the movie is still not over even when it actually was.

There are other good movies running in the theatres, I surely wouldn't suggest this one.

Ko - Movie Review * No spoiler*

I would say "Ko" is one of the best movies I have seen in recent times - Right from the cast, to performance by each actor, to the cinematography, to the story line, to the beautiful locations where songs were shot, all complemented each other so well that I yet again feel like wanting to watch the movie all over again in the theatre and been recommending everyone whom I come across to watch it as well :)

I have allways been a fan of Jeeva's and after watching this movie I'm only in more appreciation of Jeeva's , Ajmal's and Pia's ... However, I thought Karthika (the lead lady in the movie) could have performed a lot better or thought did not live up to the character she was portrayed. The make up used on Karthika has also been flawed and looks like her face has been un evenly painted .. sans this, every aspect of the movie is applaudable !

If you have some time in hand, or rather take sometime off your routine to catch up this movie in the theatre .. It truly is worth it all !!

Movie Review - Siruthai & Aadukalam

Come Diwali or Pongal and there are a series of movies lined up for release and this time over it was Siruthai, Aadukalam, Kaavalan and Ilanignyan

*No spoilers*

Having watched two of the four movies released, I liked Aadukalam over Siruthai and don't really intend watching the other two movies .. May be kaavalan when it is on TV.

Aadukalam

I liked the first half of the movie better than the second, nevertheless the movie was a complete package .. good acting by Dhanush and others .. nice songs too, I in particular like yathe yathe and otha solale more when I saw the song as a part of the movie. I am not a great fan of Dhanush but in this case I doubt if any other actor could have played this role so well.

My rating: 7.5/10

Siruthai

Rocket Raja (Karthi) and Pattu poochi (santhanam) get the audience into splits with their witty one - liners that I think was the only good thing about the movie .. Not a very appealing show by Tamanna. Good story line and is a tinge heavy on violence.

My rating: 7/10

How did you like the pongal movie releases ???

Enthiran - Movie review

Enthiran - Robot, loved the movie. DOT.

I am not a super crazy fan of Rajini but I liked his acting in it and Ash as always in her true graceful self added charm to the movie in her own way.

My favourite bits from the movie:
  • Love all the songs from the movie and have started liking it even more after seeing the videos of those.
  • Machu pichu looks beautiful where the Kilimanjaro song was shot.
  • I liked the first half of the movie than the later half, the later half contained mostly of animation.
  • Most of the clothes which Ash wore were awesomely cool :)
  • loved the dance - Ash with Chitti the robot on her birthday party ..
  • The villanious laugh by Rajini in the last few scenes of the movie.
  • It was great to hear the claps and whistles and the uproar in the crowd after this dialogue
(A scene happening when Chitti the robot is first taken to the conference, when it is for the first time being introduced to the people in the conference)

Question from the Audience: Is there God ?
Chitti (Robot): Who is God ?
Guy from the Audience: The one who created all of us
Chitti: Then in that case, it was Dr.Vaseegaran who created me and he is my god ..

Woha !! What an uproar from the audience .. :) :)

The only thing I missed in the movie, is the typical punch dialogue which is expected of a Rajni's movie and of course the title song .. never mind Enthiran was a true entertainer in all ways :)

Wishing you all a happy Ayudha Pooja in Enthiran style ;)

Inidhu Inidhu - Movie Review Experience

I was at Sathyam cinemas on wednesday night with family, to a surprisingly less filled car park and relatively less crowded screens. I hardly remember the last time I was at Sathyam for a night show on a week day for that matter been a while since I was at Sathyam itself (a place which was almost like a second home ;)).

After hearing to a lot of "must watch movie" kind of comments from friends and with the duet movies banner, I was more than assured that Inidhu Inidhu would turn out to be a good one. And it was a very beautiful movie. Siddhu, Appu, Madhu, Tyson, Shravz, Arvind (character names) were all too good. The movie captured the real essence of the college students and each actor portrayed it so well.. There were many scenes in the movie where I could relate myself and my friends with the characters of the story thou' not exactly but many at times.

It was a fun, beautiful, thoughtful, simple, sweet and very lively movie experience I had watching Inithu Inithu. With me jus' being out of college, watching a movie completely out of a college life, I relived my college days in the short span of three hours.

A simple story line, neat coinematography, with all characters performing their best.. I would recommend this movie to all those of them who would like to rewind to their college days . Btw, Inithu Inithu is a remake of the super hit telugu movie Happy days.

Yup, college days were truly happy :)

Movie "Odipolama" review

It was one movie I eagerly anticipated since the time the movie was being shot. I followed it up like crazy .. downloaded the songs on the day of its music release. Was totally excited when I saw the poster of the movie right from the dailies to the hoardings across the city. It was an introductory movie for actor Parimal who was my friend D's cousin.

But, due to various other reasons I couldn't catch up with the movie when it was in the theaters and after hearing rave reviews from my friends and after so much persuasion by friend D I finally caught up with the movie this noon.

At the beginning during the start of the movie was thinking that it is Parimal's first movie so its ok.. I shouldn't be expecting too much .. the first song comes and I'm in total awe of his dancing skills , it starts there and from then on I haven't had the slightest hesitation on having to watch the movie. Every single cast in the movie has done a wonderful job *applause* and good show by debutant actor Parimal as well.. except for the first few starting mins of the movie .. Parmial has done a good job.

A nice movie to catch up with on a lazy afternoon :)

Movie Time - Mighty Joe Young

Between one of the days when we were struggling to get done with our final year project, D suggested I watch the movie 'Mighty Joe Young'. He told it was one of the movies he remembers watching as a kid and with D's strong recommendation I downloaded it.

Today after successfully completing our project review, which in fact turned out to be surprisingly superb and after a not so boring evening I decided on spending the night watching 'Mighty Joe Young'.

Thou' I didn't really have much expectation of the film I totally loved it. A girl and her mom are in a forest to protect the Gorilla s and this lead's to the death of the mum. But, her daughter Young promises to her mom that she would protect the then baby gorilla Joe which was six months old.

The various obstacle that comes by in form of poachers and Joe moving out of its natural habitat and how Young tries to protect Joe in all stages of difficulties and how they succeed sums up the movie.

Nice one and a partly realistic on on how difficult animals find to protect themselves from the poachers in their natural habitat.

Vinnai thandi Varuvaya :) :) - Movie Review

*No spoilers*

A movie that was totally worth the wait :) :)

Every time I saw the poster or the trailer or the news paper Ad I kept telling myself that I should surely see it as soon as it releases, like the way I do to most other movies and this one I made sure it happened.

I've lived this movie twice already and i'm already planning my next trip to the theatres to watch it again :) It sure is going to be one of my all time favourites , an evergreen movie that would appear fresh each time I see it.

I'm sure most of you by now would have realised that I have hardly been bitten by the VTV bug :) .. Every single aspect of the movie was so appealing .. Right from Trisha's clothes ..to the finesse with which Simbu has portrayed his role .. to the cinematography .. to the locations in which the songs were shot .. to the choreogragraphy of Hosanna .. the itsy bitsy naughtiness and chemistry between the lead pair that was so beautifully pictured .... timely humor by Ganesh (simbu's friend in the movie).. Mindblowing musical score by the Madras Maestro ARR ... And Gautam Vasudev Menon who has brought his brain child VTV into such beautiful picturisation with his conseptualisation .. Direction and what not ..

KUDOS TO THE TEAM !

I loved every bit of the movie :) Thou' the twist in the climax was totally unexpected of , I totally liked it .

Let me know how you guys liked it .

Movie Review - Paa

*no spoilers*

A big thumbs up to the whole crew of Paa. It was one of those movies where you didn't wanna miss even a single scene. Amitabh Bachchan play Auro, a 13 year old boy who is affected by progeria ,a disease that makes one look older than their actual age.

Junior Bachchan plays father to Auro and the beautiful Vidya Balan play mom to the child. It is only in the later part of the movie that Abishek Bachchan comes to know that Auro is his son. How this happens ?? What happens to Auro ?? makes the story line.

The character Auro makes the whole movie lively with timely humour.

Paa was directed by Balki and Music scored by Illayaraja , which only added beauty to the already strong story line.

I would surely recommend everybody to watch Paa. My favourite in the movie was the timely humour by Auro :)

Movie Review - Aadhavan

*No spoilers*

I caught up with Aadhavan over the weekend with my parents. When we found that every other movie that we were planning to see had no tickets available finally we zeroed in on this one.

With all the rave reviews I recieved from almost everyone whose seen this movie I was a little skeptical but I was pretty much sure that I wouldn' be disappointed with Surya (one of my favourite actors) playing the lead.

Surya as usual was at his best and so was Vadivel. The other actors did a good job too. The one other factor that I was totally excited about was that, one song sequence from Aadhavan was shot in my college campus.

(The rain sequence in this song was shot in my college) :)

The picturisation of all the songs were beutifully done.

The movie was a very good entertainer and my whole family liked it. You can surely watch it once, but I didn't really mind watching it the second time :)

Peranmai - Movie review

**spoiler alert**

Jayam ravi (Dhruvan) plays the role of a forest incharge officer , he basically is from the family of mountain tribes and has grown to become the officer he is now. He trains a group of NCC cadets (girls) of which 5 of them are selected to go into the forest.

During which they encounter foreigners entering their forest (which they assumed to be a virgin land inaccessed b human beings) later they find out that the intention of the foreigners is to prevent India from launching the satellite that they have planned to ..

How they go about exploiting the plan and how jayam ravi along with his group of 5 girls fight to save their nation's satellite launch sums up the movie.

It is one if the good movie from kollywood that has hit the screens in recent times. Everyone s acting is appreciable and the way the movie has been taken is beautiful and vey realistic :) A must watch I would say.

Last evening after the celebration of Ayudha pooja at home me , mum and dad set to watch the 3D animation movie UP.

The movie is all about a young couple both adventurists wanting to visit a far away land and meet one of the renowned explorers of all time .. The couple grow old and unfortunately the expedition could be carried on only by the old man after his wife's death .. and the various incidents that happen and later finding that the renowned explorer is a cheat makes up the story..

Abhiyum Naanum - Movie Review

** spoiler alert**

A movie with a simple and beautiful story line , very realistic . I happened to watch Abhiyum Naanum starring Trisha, Prakash Raj , Aishwarya , Mano Bala, Ganesh Venkatraman(introducing, Mr.India) et all on Sunday. All of us in my family were insisting to watch this one at the earliest coz we knew it was meant to be good, being a Prakash Raj film , the trailer was catchy and the reviews from my friends could hardly keep me away for couple of days from watching this movie.

Trisha plays daughter to Prakash Raj and Aishwarya . She's a daddy's child like how most daughters are.. The story line is how Trisha grows from a baby girl to a teenager to an adult and how her parents especially her dad takes it in variuos stages of life .. There are times when the kids actually grow but the parents fail too ... How ever grown up you are, you are still that lil kid (the biggest decision you made then was what color crayon to use ) to your parents . Neverthless, Life has to grown on :)
Loved the movie, so did all my folks and pals :)

Vaarnam Aiyiram - Movie Review

I have been wanting to watch this movie right from the time the songs were out and more so when I happened to see the trailers but unfortunately had my exams going on the time it was released, so the first thing I did after I was done with my exams was to catch up with this movie the very same night :) (I'm a big time Surya fan ;)

I wasn't disappointed . Thou' the movie was on a sad trail after the interval which I didn't expect it to be like I still loved it :). Surya has done immense justice to both the roles(dad and son) he has done in the movie. Sameera Reddy was equally good too and I loved her clothes in the movie :)

All the actors have done their parts well . Two messages I got from the movie are:

Whatever happens in life, life has to move on.

Whatever difficulties one faces in life they can surey come out to have a better life when they have constant support despite their set backs in life :)

Loved the way Surya was wooing her ;) . This is one of my favourite scenes from the movie , especially the way he plays the guitar for her :)

Wishing you all a great weekend :)

Santosh Subramanian - Movie review

I caught up with this movie (Santosh Subramanian) staring Jeyam Ravi , Genelia, Prakash raj in lead roles and it turned out to be a complete entertainer. This movie is a remake of Bomarillu ( a super hit telgu movie).

Love makes life beautiful is the theme of the story and it has lived up to its theme.

Prakash Raj plays the role of a disciplined father who has strict rules at his home and his son Ravi maintains the goody boy image at home ,turning out to be the entire opposite when he's out with his friends.

Prakash Raj assumes that he knows whats best for his family giving them no chance to choose the stuffs they like, its only later in the story that he realises he's done a huge mistake by not letting his folks talk or choose for themselves unknowingly.

Genelia plays the role of a cute, bubbly girl who loves making friends but too kiddish at times and ends up putting herself in trouble with wrong people. It's during this time Ravi saves her from the bad stuff and that's how the movie goes on.. It's her bubbly self that has made the movie more lively. A must watch if you wanna be entertained. I would rate the movie 7 on 10.

P.S: A few scenes in this movie were shot in my college (SRM) and for that matter most of Jeyam Ravi's movies have a few scenes shot here right from M.Kumaran .. wonder whats the link??
