Beating the heat

It's that time of the year when mercury levels in Chennai and most other parts of India soar. In a city with climate ranging from hot, hotter to hottest - it is also the time when students like me are bombarded with exams from all directions and the worst of all is getting back home mid day after an exam , I truly feel like a sizzler.

Apart from all this, me being a summer person these are all the stuffs I do everyday to beat the heat:

Wear cotton clothing
Have a face wash as and when possible
Find a seat right under the fan
Have a juice right after the exam
A butter milk and lassi at Tambaram station
A bottle of water at Chetpet station
Keep the A/C on.
Watermelon and Tender coconut water :)

Ice- creams to be added on the list at the earliest :)

What's the weather like at your place ?

Ayan - Movie Review

I finally caught up with Surya and Tamana starer Ayan last night at Inox with my parents. The long delay in catching up with the movie was due to my semester practical exams which jus' got over 2 days back .

As for the movie - as always Surya was at his best , Tamana was good too and all the other actors did a great job as well .. The songs were bautifully scened but the only thing I didnt like much about the film was the violence factor , guess it was a little over board . It was a complete entertainer otherwise - jus' couldn't figure out how the time flew by :)

Today I have a holiday cause of bandh .. yay!! A much needed one after those dreadful prac. exams

Monday Morning Inspiraton # 68

If you read the front page story of the San Francisco Chronicle on Thursday, Dec 15, 2005, you would have read about a female humpback whale who had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines.

The fifty-foot whale was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her her tail, her torso and a line tugging in her mouth.

A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farallone Islands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed an environmental group for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her - a very dangerous proposition. One slap of the tail could kill a rescuer.

They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, and nudged them, pushed them gently around - she thanked them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives.

The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth says her eye was following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.

May you always know the joy of giving and receiving gratitude.

Monday Morning Inspiration # 67

Money has no memory, experience has.

You will never know what was the total cost of your education , but for a lifetime you will recall and relive the memories of schools and colleges. Few years from now you will forget the amonut you paid to settle the medical bill, but will cherish having saved a loved one's life. Money has no memory, experience has.

Good times and bad times, times of prosperity and times of poverty, times when the future looked so secure and times when you didnt know from where the tomorrow will come ... life has been in one way or the other a roller coaster ride for everyone. Beyond all that abundance and beyond all that deprivation ,what remains is the memory of experiences. Sometimes the wallet was full .. sometimes even the pocket was empty. There was enough and you still had reasons to frown. There wasn't enough and you still had reasons to smile. today you can look back with gratitude for all the times you had laughed together and also look back with a smile at all the times you cried alone. All in all, life filled you with experiences to create a history of your own self and you alone can remember them all.

The first time you balanced yourself on your cycle without support...
The first time since she said yes and it has been two years since you proposed ...
The first cry.. the first steps... the first word... the first kiss.. all of your child.
The first gift you bought for your parents .. the first gift your daughter gave you..
The first award.. the first public appreciation .. the first stage performance ...

Experiences with timeless memory ...

No denying that anything that's material cost money, but the fact remains the cost of experience will be forgotten, but the experiences never.

So, what if it is economic recission?Let it be, but let there not be a recesiion to the quality of your life. You can still take your parents if not on a pilgrimage, at least to the local temple. You can still play with your children if not on an international holiday, but on the local park.

Nice time to train employees, create leadership availability and be ready for the wonderful times when they arrive. Time will pass.. economy will revive.. currency will come in current.. and in all this we shouldn't look back and then realise that we did nothing but stayed in gloom. Recession can make you loose out on money. Let it not make you lose out on experiences .. If you are not happy with whaqt you have, no matter how much more you have, you still will not be happy.

Make a statemnt with the way you live: How I feel has nothing to do with how much I have.
