It rained Ice :)

A lot of surprising yet nice things have been happening in a row .First it was the the Men in Blue winning the ICC twenty 20 championship and now its raining ice in chennai (not literally, it rained yesterday).I couldn't enjoy it as I was enjoying the weather in confines of my cosy bed and a book. Came to know it rained ice only after seeing the news :( .. Wish the rain gods could give a replay ;) .. I heard it was the size of small pebbles .. Did anybody get to enjoy it??

You can see the video here .. I'm not very sure if this is a video taken in the recent Chennai showers (Thou' I got it after I googled about the ice rain in Chennai).. But, jus' thought I would add this video for those of you missed to see the ice rain like me :)

The final match between india and Pakistan is going on a full spree... And about 5 overs left and seven wickets down for pakistan already... Things are more favourable for India.. I'm jus' keeping my fingers crossed and the crackers ready .... Hoping for the best ...

Monday morning Inspiration # 3

She was the 20th of the 22 children born to poor parents. She was a premature kid and was under weight. Born during a time of racial prejudice, when African-American babies where denied the best medication, she suffered one illness after another - measles, mumps, scarlet fever, chicken pox and double pneumonia. At the tender age of four her doctor discovered that her left leg had become weak and deformed . Her case was identified as polio, a diseases which has no cure.. The doc said she would not be able to walk again... With diligent support from her mother and other family members she slowly learnt to walk with the help of metal leg brace at the age of 8 .. Later, she started using special shoes to support her feet. It was at the age of 12, she started walking properly without the help of crutches... Then she started playing basketball and performed extremley well.. She then went on to become an athelete.. At the age of 16, she represented the U.S.A and won the bronze metal in the 1956 olympics. In the 1960 rome olympics she became the first American woman to bag three gold medals in an olympics.. despite, her sprained ankle she ran for her team and helped it win the gold in relay race...
doctors though she would never walk, but she believed god had other plans for her,the one and only Wilma Rudolph. Her victory was not restricted to athletics alone, in a way she also contributed in the removal of racial discrmination...
It is always us and nobody else who decides our destiny :)

UPDATE: India enters semifinals after beating South Africa in their home ground.. looking forward to the semi finals against the Aussies... (keeping my fingers crossed..Hope they enter the finals and win the championship :) )

I was over the phone with my friend when he reminded about the ICC 20-20 world cup. I switched on the T.V. just in time to catch the spectacular batting by Yuvraj singh..He was jus' way too good... six sixers in an over... Im jus' in awe.... to say the least..Jus' hoping India plays well and gets to the next level.... :)

With this power packed performance Yuvraj Singh becomes the fastest person to get 50 runs in 20-20 world cup from 12 balls ..( 3 fours and 6 sixers)... WOW..He also became the first batsman to hit six sixers in 20-20 world cup and the second, after Herschelle Gibbs, in one-dayers. Hats off to Yuvraj...

Monday morning inspiration # 2

The story about the tiny frogs....

There once was a bunch of tiny frogs who araanged a running competition... The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower ..A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer the contestants.

The race began.....

Honestly no one in the crowd really believed that, the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower... You heard statements such as "Oh, way too difficult!! They will never make it to the top"or"Not a chance they will succeed, the tower is too high"... The tiny frogs began collapsing one by one... Except for those who in a fresh tempo who were climbing higher and higher...

The crownd continued to yell.. "It's too difficult!! no one will make it!!" More tiny frogs got tired and gave up ...But ONE continued higher and higher and higher... This ONE wouldn't give up...
At the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower... Except for the one tiny frog who after a big effort was the only one who reached the top...

Then all the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this ONE frog made it to the top?? A contestant asked the tiny frog how the one who had succeeded had found the strength to reach the goal..

It turned out....

That the winner was...

DEAF

The wisdom of the story is: Never listen to other people's tendencies to be negative or pessimistic... cause, they take your most wonderful dreams and wishes away from you. The ones you have in your heart! Always think of the power the words have... Because everything you hear and read will affect your actions.. Therefore always be positive and above all be deaf when people tell you that you cannot fulfil your dreams.. Even the word impossible says I'm possible..
Stay good ! Stay positive :)

Teacher's day

India celebrates the birthday of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President and Vice-President and great statesman, as "Teachers' Day". Born on September 5, 1888, at Tiruttani, 40 miles to the north-east of Madras, Radhakrishnan grew to become the most famous Indian teacher and philosopher of all times. In his honour, this day is celebrated as Teacher's Day.
He was also the Vice-President of India from 1952-1962. He held the office of the Chancellor, University of Delhi, before taking over as the President of India in May 1962.

On Teacher's day I would like to thank all the teachers who played a very important part in grooming up my personality.. If it is not for them, I would not be what I am today... In that way a few of them are really very special to me for 2 reasons 1) They have taught me things which has helped me in future 2) I admire them for what they are and learnt in the process...

First, its my parents who brought me into this world and taught me so many things and much more which I learnt by observing them ... Then, my grandparents who were always on my side when my mom scolded me for the silly things I used to do ... This made me feel I'm special to somebody no matter what... Few of my friends who were there through my thick and thin and made me really understand in my worst times that its jus' a passing phase and this too shall go...

As much as my memory can recall , mrs. Muthuvadivoo Ramesh is someone special to me for she was the one who first thought I could dance and started training me for school programs ... She also trained me in my language skills and more so as she was also my 8th grade class teacher ...

Mrs.Julia Jhonson ... She was more supportive , whenever I had to go through my tough times , I also got a proficiency award when I was in her class :) .. She was fighting cancer until few years back and now she is in good health.. Im glad :)

Mrs. Sharada Ramoorthy.. very friendly, understanding ... I have never seen someone as patient as her.... We as children never felt like calling her maam , we were so tempted to call her aunty with the way she treated us..

Mrs. Julia Robertson ... She taught us lessons through her songs and let us have fun in our own way ..

Mrs.Parvathy .. Mrs. vedavalli .. They were the ones who brought the best out of me... thou' I was hardly present in their classes , I was mostly out practising music or dance for the forthcomin competition... Theirs were the PTA meeting I feared most...

Mr. Sozharajan and Mr. Pandian ... The first teachers who made History and geography fun to learn with their sense of humor ...

Ms.Rehana , my physical education teacher who very well knew im bad in sports and still enrolled me for sports events and let me try my luck... She was more like a friend...

Mrs.Sophia , my vice principal in secondary schooling who let me participate in all inter school culturals bunking classes :p

Mrs. Susan kuruvilla , who is one of the most favoured teacher as she helped us do whatever we liked.... Her accent of english is funny to say the least but very cute :)

Mrs.Chitra , my dance teacher... I owe her a lot...

Mrs.Celene Patrick , my kindergarden head mistress

My principals Mr J.D. Jhonson and Mrs. J.M. Sathya Kumari ...

This is a special year for my principal Mrs.Sathya kumari as she is getting a national award for her excellence in teaching... Congrats ma'am ...

If any of my teachers are reading it , I would jus' like to say I miss you all and would be glad to get in touch with you again ...

Apart from all of them , a few experiences in life and a lot of books which I read turned out to be some of the best teachers too !

Wish you all a very Happy teachers day , for each one of us are teachers in someway or the other !!

The teacher's day we celebrated in my 12th grade was the best, as it was the final year of schooling we had to wear saree and take the responsiblities of a teacher for a day...And my bad luck, I was appointed to go to another 12th grade where I was being bullied by my friends .. Very funny the day turned out to be.... Thanks for reading :D
