Vinayaka Chaturthi Wishes :)

I have always had fond memories of celebrating Vinayaka Chathurthi as a child and I am glad the practice still continues jus' the same way. The preperation for the festival starts a day in advance. On the eve of Vinayaka Chaturthi we make a visit to the nearby vinayaka temple where they sell all the decorative items and the various items required for the pooja.

Right from selecting the colorful umbrella for lord Ganesha , the thoranams to decorate the pooja shelf .. flowers.. garlands etc has always been a much sort after event.. Any festival that involves shopping even to the smallest scale is so much fun :) . The next day starts with preperation of kozhkattai/mothagams where everyone at home is involved in preparing the sweet dumplings.

After a special offering to lord Ganesh the day continues with sharing the sweet delicacies with friends and ofcourse with the Vinayaka chaturthi special programs on TV and later in the evening it is time to visit my most favourite pillayar koil in town, which is about ten mins drive from my home.

Vinayaka Chathurthi also instills in me a feeling that it is the beginning of a list of festivals to follow, though technically speaking we celebrated Krishna Jeyanthi a week before.

This is one of my favourite festivals right from the time I was a kid. Since we used to go shopping to get few decoration items from colorful umbrella to garlands .. And of course making Kozhukatais at home with all the family members is fun !

What Vinayaka Chaturthi means to me ???

First of all, wish you all a very happy Vinayaka chaturthi...

What Vinayaka chaturthi meant to me as a kid .. well, it almost means the same even now...

It's the bday of the cutest god :D ... The first festival of the season ... Serial lights everywhere.. Shopping for the festival... I especially like the umbrella shopping for vinayaka... making modhagams/kozhukattai for hours together... temple visits ... the only difference is until a few years back i had my exams starting right after the festival but not anymore... So, which means more fun ... Happy eating.. Have fun !

Everyday musings #1

The last few days have been quite busy, not really busy but jus' that i have a handful of stuffs to do. Life is going in top gear and I'm glad that im not getting bored inspite of having holidays :)

1. My best friend was lucky enough to come out of an accident with jus' a few crashes... Infact, I should say i'm the one who is lucky ... The first thing I did was , I went to a temple .. hufffff.... Thank god!!

2. My paper presentation got selected ...yipeee... One more stage to go, which I hope should also go well :)

3. Festivity is in the air and I bet this is how Chennai is gonna be for the next few months with all the festivals lined up... So, this time around it was Vinayaka chaturthi (will make a post on it soon)

4. I'm taking my driving lessons and almost in the verge of completing it and jus' a week away from getting my license... Finally I can drive by myself :)

I'm jus' so glad my best friend.. friend for life is safely back after the accident with jus a few scratches... Im HAPPY.. :)

The sad thing is the mobile operators are increasing the cost for messages and I find it hard to reverse while driving , which btw I think will take more time and practice for me to get accustomed to..
