Happy B'day Mr.Tata - Ratan Tata turns 71

Ratan Tata is my favourite global icon and I look up to him in more ways than one. Today is his bday - he turns 71 years young and I'm sure the TATA conglomerate will see a lot more new businesses coming up in his leadership . Many Happy returns of the day to you Sir :)

My crucible experience

The TATA Crucible - business quiz is a bi-yearly event in the Indian world of quizzing and has also extended to the international arena starting last year (2007) where it made its prescence felt in Singapore.

The biz quiz is held twice a year, one for students and the other for corporates. This year around I was at the Chinmaya Heritage centre in Chennai on March 8 where the where the Chennai round of quizzing happened. Not as a part of the audience but as a participant. Couldn't believe myself as I had always wanted to be a part of it but something turned up everytime and made me jus a part of the audience or not even that.

This time over I was thrilled when my friend D said he would like to participate as well. So we made a team and represented our college. Thou' we didn't make it to the finals we feel truly enlightened from the experience we got out of the high voltage quizzing. The finalists from Chennai to compete at the national level quiz is a team from Anna university.

Tata Crucible - The business quiz

It's that time of the year again when the best minds in the country battle to win the toughest business quiz in the country.

Tata crucible quiz contest is conducted twice in India every year - the campus quiz and the corporate quiz. This time over, in a months time the Tata crucible campus quiz will hit Chennai for the 4th consecutive year.

Tata crucible was started in the year 2004 by the TATA group to bring together the sharpest young minds of the country. Now its gone a step further and has become an international biz quiz starting from last year where it made its first international prescence felt in Singapore.

People's car - TATA Nano

The most hyped and the most awaited people's car from the TATA conglomerate saw its debut at the Auto Expo in Delhi on Jan 10th 2008. This is the cheapest car in the world costing Rs.1 lakh ($2500) .

With it, it is not just bring the cheapest car tag, but brings in a revolution of its own in the car market. Ratan Tata , Chairman of the TATA Conglomerate has kept up his word of giving the world the 1 lakh car.

"When others said NO, he said NANO" and yes, he has kept up his promise thou' the commodity prices have shot up from the time he had promised years back :)

Thou' there were a lot of critics talking about safety norms, pollution control and the car adding to the ever increasing traffic in the Indian cities , those issues never seemed to bother me (more so because I was a TATA fan myself) . But one thing that I was always a little concerned about was "How will the car look?" .
After bringing about a whole new revolution in the car market, you don't want the car to look like a share auto or a some metal box with wheels .

And , finally here is the answer to all the critics "the 624 cc, 33 HP petrol engine meets Bharat Stage-III emission norms and can also meet the Euro 4 norms. " as told by Mr.Tata himself .

And what does the car look like??

I think it looks really cute . It is to hit the roads by Nov 2008 . If I make adequate money by blogging ads, I might also think of buying one for myself :)

RATAN TATA turns 70

India's most dynamic business tycoon Ratan Tata celebrates his birthday today. He has also been my role model from the time I wanted to be an Entrepreneur and the products from the House of TATA s(Taj hotels, ginger,westside,titan,tanishq,tetley,tata motors, titan + and more to come) has been a part of my life from the time I can remember .

I wish him a very happy birthday and very long life . May the house of TATA s and India grow with his guidance and support . Wish you very many happy returns of the day and a happy new year Sir :)
