One friday evening my friend D and I were talking about corporate life and how stressful it is sometimes when I suggested to him to spend sometime with the dog that stays two houses away from his home, since pets are a good way of de-stressing .. That was it, D went on this urge to get a labrador puppy for himself and insisted I along with another friend of ours would go get the pup the next day ..
I being so scared of dogs was never for the idea and D's parents were again not very fond of having pets at home .. but D wanted to get a male Labrador pup and name it Dino .. after failed attempts of trying to convince him to not get the puppy, we (D , D's bro , me and another H) finally set on the mission to meet Dino ..
In a days time D found out different sources from where we could get a pup and by saturday afternoon we set on mission getting Dino home .. after traveling to tirumangalam and half the distance towards North Madras all on a heavy rainy day, we met the person who we contacted through phone and finally reached the kennel to find out that the male pup was already given away and D was left with the choice of taking a female labrador pup back home.
She was a cute little thing running between our feet.. she looked totally adorable .. I wanted to take her in my arm but was scared .. D's bro carried the pup and I managed to touch her for the first time.. She was 40 days old then and was behaving herself well... she was happy to be with us, after a few mins of playing around with her my friend D decided to call her Daisy coz she was a female puppy and within a few mins the four of us along with Daisy were getting back home - reminding me of Enid Blyon's Famous Five ...
Daisy has now become the darling of the street right from kids to elders and has befriended the german shepherd (named Josh) that stays two houses away from the home where Daisy stays and they have a fun time playing with each other every evening...
Josh and Daisy are jus' so friendly that Josh climbs on the wall looking out for Daisy until she enters my friend's home...
I'm not all the scared of dogs anymore, for a matter of fact carried her to the veterinarian for her vaccination :) :)

so..r u getting a puppy next Shalu?? :)
so, you have overcome your fear for dogs. Good!. so what next? a lovely pup for yourself. But then shalu, a pup needs to stay with its mom for atleast 8 weeks before it is sold or taken away.
Good to read you're not afraid of dogs any more...
@Sheila
I doubt if I will .. probably i should look out for a new home for me and the pup, if I think of getting one home
@Asha
Absolutely! Im not all that afraid of dogs anymore :) :) a pup for myself I doubt !!
I didn't know that a pup should be seperated from the mother dog only after 8 weeks, will keep that in mind the next time .. She was 40 days when we took her home from the kennel
@Shrinidhi
I've finally overcome this after so many many years ...
Wow. A coincidence.
I wrote a post about dogs, and puppies in particular on the exact same day that you did :)
This particular puppy looks quite cute :)Although you must tell your friend, that playing with a dog and owning it are too different stories.
Read my story if you are free :)
Mankind should give back more to dogs, for the effort they put, in keeping us happy. Hope India will soon implement a street animal rescue service center, like in the U.S.
Hey shalini,
just happened to stumble onto your blog.
Being a dog owner myself, I'd urge you to get a pet soon. Not only because of their selfless love for us but also because of their ability to somehow teach us great many simple things at times when we're just busy doing nothing of any consequence whatsoever in our lives.
Also, i think you should think about it properly before getting one. It hurts me too see/ hear about abandoned dogs on the street. Strays, on the other hand are still adapted to the conditions.
Then again with dogs, you have to own them to know what it feels like :)

Aman
superb pictorial presentation.
this reminds me of a board in front of a house.
"EVERY ONE IN THIS HOUSE IS VEGETARIAN EXCEPT
THE FEROCIOUS DOG."
@Nothing but Ficus
That's coincidental, will drop by your blog to read your post :)
I guess my friend by now would have realised it himself that owning a dog is different from just playing with it :)
@Blognostic

Thanks for dropping by my space, will visit yours soon! :)
Hi Aman,
Its great to hear from you .. with your comment I can truly see how much you adore your pet, what is the name and breed ??
I agree when you say, you need to own a dog to see what it feels like :) :) I probably wish to own one sometime..
@Pramod
Thank you :) Glad you liked it!! love the words that you've shared .. I probably should ask my friend to put it in front of his home, they literally suit his case.
I have an adorable little german shepherd.she's barely 6 months old and we call her alice :)
