Past perfect = present continuous

Looks like the past plays a considerable amount in the future too. It was as a shock to me while I was reading Economic Times a couple of days back. The secondary and higher secondary marks play a considerable role in gaining admission into the top IIMs.

Even for students who had a score 99.46 percentile didn't get a call from the top IIMs whereas one who had obtained 99.28 managed to get a call from all top IIMs including IIM A coz the laters secondary and higher secondary marks were better than the previous persons..

If the past isn't perfect does it really have to affect the present continuous?

silly people.. they dint select me too for IIMs... my mark was not in the nineties... 80s wouldnt help too...

atleast in my era of MBA it was easy to crack the cat.. but now its all complicated...

The title says it all... They need to realize CAT is not AIEEE or any other lower exam.. AIEEE considers MPC marks , then Date of Birth :P

99.46% and still not successful..hmm!

But there's a possibility of a present continuous (good life ahead) even without getting into IIMs!

thats weird.. i mean logically would be to take into account the past results if 2 of the applicants got the same percentage now.. then it would be smart, else it makes no sense.

Shalini Gowrisankar said...

@Lena

Absolutely , I jus' hope these pop into the heads of those involved :)

It's bad that the past failures take a toll on the future.. After all, they are just failures that can be attributed to several reasons and no crimes..

They could probably take it into consideration if there are going to be more than one person with the same cut off ,but otherwise I don' find a point in giving so much of importance to Secondary and Higher secondary scores.
